Pictured: Judah and Tamar, by Horace Vernet
None of the daughters of Israel shall be a kedeshah, nor shall any of the sons of Israel be a kadesh.
You shall not bring the hire of a prostitute (zonah) or the wages of a dog (keleb) into the house of the Lord your God to pay a vow, for both of these are an abomination to the Lord your God. -Deuteronomy 23:17-18. According to Genesis chpt. 38, "After Judah's own wife died, he went to a prostitute: Tamar, disguised behind a veil. She asked for his staff and seal as security, then made her pregnant. Three months later, Judah learns that Tamar had prostituted herself and gotten pregnant, so he orders her burnt to death..."
Girls of the Line
A team of prostitutes. Each with their own 'hooker on point' boulevard to sashay good business their way. They can also be found lining up at a neighboring bunny ranch, offering their customers a choice of various livestock.
"She's such a Betty!" (L/R) Betty Boop 1930s, Betty Cooper of Archie Comics 1940s, Bettie Page 1950s "Queen of Pin up".
1.) The sweet, attractive girl next door type. The one with the cool personality and trendsetting style. "She's such a Betty!" 2.) A pin up gal. She can model any character with style. 3.) Reference to a maid servant, like that of Jeeves. 4.) Based on the Emmy award series, Ugly Betty, she falls under the ugly category.
A sexy, vivrant thing or knockout sweet to the taste like the savory British griddle cakes themselves. 2.) More often then not, sexy women are charged with being a slutty tease when they're unobtainable.
